To Choose Us
Getting a smile makeover doesn’t have to be lengthy or expensive. For some people, all they need is to whiten the healthy teeth they already have. Professional treatments give you a better and more even outcome than if you were to use store-bought systems with weaker products.
If you’re planning on cosmetic treatments such as veneers or bonding, Dr Chung recommends whitening your overall smile first. That way, we can closely match the colour of your new restorations to the brighter hue of your “new” smile.
To get started, we take an impression of your teeth and create a set of fitted trays. You’ll place a small amount of whitening gel in each tooth reservoir and wear them for a little bit each day (typically about an hour).
For consistent whitening, wear your trays for about a week. Some people may need to whiten a little longer. With proper care and maintenance, your results can last about five years before needing to start the process over again (with the same trays, of course)!
Our custom-fitted trays and concentrated gel provide maximum coverage that works more quickly and effectively than anything sold in stores. While commercial products can still gently whiten lighter stains, they do not use the same concentration of ingredients or offer the contoured, even results that you will get from a professionally fitted kit.
With proper care and maintenance, your results can last about five years before needing to start the process over again (with the same trays, of course)!
Although professional whitening is safe for most people, there are still some contraindications as to when it’s not a good idea. For instance, if you have active tooth decay or periodontal disease, those infections will need to be treated first. Don’t whiten if you’re pregnant or nursing.
Another thing to remember is that if you have restorations in your smile zone, such as white fillings or crowns, those will not respond to the bleaching gel and contrast with the new colour of your teeth (requiring replacement).
