Dental Implant Cases
To Choose Us
They are one of the strongest, most durable restorations, capable of lasting up to the rest of your life if maintained properly. Implants also help to strengthen your bite, as they provide added support to your bone and facial structures. Most importantly, they do not rely on adjacent teeth for support.
Dental implants are:
• Stronger than natural, healthy teeth
• Non-invasive to adjacent teeth
• Hypoallergenic
• Extremely predictable and successful
• Capable of supporting the weight of multiple teeth
• Safe and comfortable to install
Depending on the number of missing teeth you have, we can use dental implants to anchor individual or multi-tooth restorations. A single implant and crown are the most common, but pairs of implants can also support a 3-4 tooth dental bridge. If you are missing all of your teeth in your upper or lower arch, as few as four implants are capable of supporting a full-arch prosthesis such as a hybrid denture.
Some implant cases are more complicated if there is a lack of bone to place the implant or there is no vertical height on the upper back area to place the implant, or you want to replace multiple teeth.
Getting dental implants is a surprisingly straightforward, comfortable process. Most implants can be installed using only a small amount of numbing medication. Once set into the bone, the implant is left to integrate for a period of 3-6 months until it is permanently fused with the surrounding tissues.
In the meantime, Dr Chung can fit you with a temporary restoration to cover the open space. After the implant is fully integrated, we install an abutment and affix your permanent restoration into place.
Although dental implants do not get cavities, the other tooth aren’t one can. It’s important to floss and brush around your dental implants as you would any other tooth.
If you tend to clench or grind your teeth, ask Dr Chung about getting fitted with a night guard to prevent any chipping to your new restorations.
Refer for a 3D CBCT x-ray.
May require a digital scan if planning on doing guided implant surgery.
A minimum 2 hour appointment is advised for placing dental implants. Might require a sinus lift or bone graft at same stage.
After 2 weeks we will have a follow-up appointment to review and remove sutures.
After 3 months we will have another follow-up appointment to test the stability of the implant and take digital impressions for the final implant supported crown(s).
Placement of the final implant crown(s).
