What It Is
What Are Veneers?
When you think of a smile makeover, dental veneers are typically involved. Veneers are dazzling cosmetic restorations designed to enhance the shape, size, colour, and alignment of your teeth. Placed side by side, Dr Chung can use veneers to transform the appearance of your entire self, and really bring forth the best you.
Why Get Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ideal for:
1. Heavily stained
2. Discoloured teeth
3. Unusual tooth shape positioning
4. Minor crowding or gaps
5. Irregular tooth size including chipped edges
How Do Veneers Work?
When Dr Mark Chung (Dentist) designs veneers, they are shaped and colored to your unique preferences. We’ll slightly reduce the thickness of the teeth in your smile zone, so that the veneers can be bonded without looking too bulky. Unlike crowns, dental veneers only cover the fronts of your teeth, slightly extending over the edges. Yet, the treatment usually takes two visits to our office, similar to what you expect when you get a crown.
How To Take Care Of Veneers?
Although veneers do not get cavities, the tooth surfaces that aren’t covered can. It’s important to floss and brush around your cosmetic veneers as you would any other tooth, paying careful attention to the margins where the restoration meets your enamel. If you tend to clench or grind your teeth, ask Dr Chung about getting fitted with a night guard to prevent any chipping to your new restorations.
About Veneers
If contouring or teeth whitening isn’t enough to accent your natural smile, then veneers tend to be the most appropriate cosmetic treatment. The only time we typically recommend avoiding veneers is if you grind your teeth heavily or already have significant damage to your enamel. If that’s the case, a ceramic crown may be a better alternative.
